Preparations

There is so much to think about to prepare for a trip like this. Bills are set up on auto pay, I voted early, put my mail on hold,  got some immunizations,  and of course tied up loose ends at work. What's another tell tale sign I am going out of town?

My frigidaire is bare. Hope I can get some sleep tonight!

Itinerary

Here's my general itinerary for the trip. I will be with a large group of families and I'm sure this will be an adventure with some twists and turns. I am ready for whatever comes my way!

10/31- Leave for Beijing; connection in Seoul, S. Korea
11/01- Arrive in Beijing
11/02- Touring
11/03- Great Wall
11/04- Fly to Zhengzhou, Henan Province
11/05- Gotcha Day!!
11/06- Registration
11/07- 09- Shopping, touring, and visit orphanage
11/10- Fly to Guangzhou, Guangdong Province
11/11- Free day
11/12- Medical exam
11/13- Shopping, touring
11/14- Consulate appointment
11/15- 11/16- Shopping, touring
11/17- Fly home

Pack It Up, Pack It In

I am all packed up and ready to go! Of course I had help (thanks T and S!)

I have plenty of clothes for all types of weather and more than enough snacks to last me 18 days. Beijing will have the coldest weather in the 50's during the day and 30's at night. Zhengzhou will be a tad warmer and Guangzhou will be in the 70's but more humid.

 

 

 

 

Ausley was helping as usual. I feel better now that I am packed. I am down to only one list with only a couple more things to do. Three more nights in my cozy bed and I'm off for Beijing!

Visa

I got my visa back and I am feeling very official!

Flights have been booked. Hotel reservations made. Two suitcases are staring at me. Haven't tackled packing yet but plan to this weekend. I got lots of snacks to take along and my first aid kit keeps growing. I think I am prepared for any sickness that might come my way and have been scared by many about  "travelers diarrhea"  so I am quite prepared for that. 

I have several 'To Do' lists but they are getting smaller every day.  I am just so excited! One week to go. 

Getting Ready

I am getting ready for a journey of a lifetime. After waiting patiently for five years I am finally traveling to China on an adoption trip. Sadly I am not adopting a child but I have the pleasure of going on the trip with a group of  families to experience their adoptions first hand. To say I am excited is an understatement. I can't wait to take it all in- the sights, smells, food, culture, and people. Less than two weeks and I will be on my way!
